Django Bates Beloved
Trio led by British pianist Django Bates and featuring Scandinavian musicians Petter Eldh (double bass) and Peter Bruun (drums). Their first album ” Beloved Bird” (2010) featured radical arrangements of Charlie Parker tunes. The second “Confirmation” placed a greater emphasis on original material but in a loosely “Parker-esque” style. Third album “The Study Of Touch” released by ECM Records in 2017 with an even greater emphasis on Bates’ own music.
"The trio's music is a compelling blend of playfulness and intellectual rigour that draws on the best of the past to create thrilling contemporary music."
"The album serves as a welcome reminder of Bates’ abilities as both a composer and a pianist and it’s a recording that should enhance his international reputation yet further."
