Leo Richardson Quartet
Quartet led by London based tenor saxophonist and composer Leo Richardson and featuring Rick Simpson (piano), Mark Lewandowski (double bass) and Ed Richardson drums. Rooted in the hard bop era their debut album “The Chase” (Ubuntu Music) was released to considerable critical acclaim in October 2017.
"On its own terms the album succeeds brilliantly, evoking the ghosts of a previous era but imbuing them with a very contemporary vim and vigour. It’s a convincing updating of the hard bop tradition. "
"An excellent and very enjoyable evening featuring some top quality music."
"Richardson's hard bop leanings are again very much in evidence, but there is also a growing sophistication about the writing and a more overt John Coltrane influence this time round."
