Paul Edis Sextet
Group led by North East based pianist and composer Paul Edis. Other members are Graham Hardy (trumpet, flugelhorn), Graeme Wilson (saxes), Chris Hibbard (trombone), Mick Shoulder (bass) and Adam Sinclair (drums).
Debut album “There Will be Time” released 2012, followed by “Mr Hipster” (2014).
"Exhibits much promise. The album borrows heavily from Monk, Blakey and others but Edis brings enough of himself to the proceedings, particularly on the slower numbers, to keep it interesting."
"Another impressive statement from Edis. His numerous influences cohere to create a convincing whole and the entire album is shot through with a sense of fun that can only add to its appeal. "
