London based musician and composer, Abram Wilson follows up his previous two critically acclaimed albums with a new sound and a new group, depicting him as a refined and focused jazz musician, and a mature, measured player whose tone, phrasing and sheer inventiveness have come together in natural harmony over the course of his career.  This award-winning artist’s talent and infectious warmth spring directly from his roots in the birthplace of jazz in New Orleans, and on this outing Wilson’s trumpet takes centre stage, giving listeners an opportunity to hear why this extraordinary artist is regarded as ?one of the finest contemporary New Orleans trumpeters? (BBC Radio 3) of our time.

Well known for his own works, Abram is also a noted educator and collaborator, encouraging and promoting the new wave of talent in the UK jazz scene and performing with the likes of Roy Hargrove, blues legend Ruth Brown and the acclaimed Tomorrow’s Warriors, of which he is a formative member.  He has been nominated for a MOBO (2005), and then led a high-profile protest outside the awards in 2006 when the jazz category was dropped (temporarily, thanks in no small part to Abram’s efforts).  He’s also been nominated for three BBC Jazz Awards (Best Band 2005, Heart Of Jazz and Best Album 2007), and his previous album Ride! won the British Jazz Award for Best New CD in 2007.

Without a doubt one of the UK’s greatest instrumentalists, Abram’s music is steeped in a rich tradition of jazz, swing, blues, gospel and soul, and with his new quartet he delivers a stunning set of original contemporary jazz that guarantees a night to remember!
