Aerie - new album and European tour, May 2018.

Wednesday, May 02, 2018

The band’s drummer, Matthew Jacobson, has forwarded the following information;

New AERIE album ‘Sonic’ released 25th May 2018 on QFTF

The new AERIE album is being released on the 25th May on Berlin record label QFTF.

The band will also be touring Europe to officially release the album with dates as follows:

25th May | Radio RTS Espace 2 Live, Lausanne, (CH)
26th May | Schaffhauser Jazz Festival (CH)
27th May | Le Bout du Monde, Vevey (CH)
29th May | Hot Club, Gent (BE)
30th May | Jacques Pelzer Jazz Club, Lige (BE)
31st May | Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris (FR)

Aerie is a quintet lead by saxophonist Ingo Hipp. As a modern European Jazz quintet Aerie’s members represent Ireland, Germany and Switzerland.
‘Sonic’ is their second album, following up on their widely-acclaimed 2015 debut ‘hatch and host’ (Neuklang Records).
If Aerie’s music were a painting, it would be big, lively and colorful. Ingo Hipp´s second album showcases an incisive saxophonist/composer who has performed all across Europe, China and Africa. Hipp´s intrepid concepts are in full force in this auspicious project, one that integrates fiercely grooving and high-energy jazz with rock, and a touch of bright color, realized by his outstanding band

Sam Comerford (sax - IRL), Laurent Méteau (guitar - CH), David Helm (bass - GER) and Matthew Jacobson (drums - IRL).

Aerie stimulates on multiple levels while revealing that progressive jazz does indeed exist outside of New York City’s sphere of influence. These European musicians are serious contenders of the art-form
with their unfaltering abilities heard in ‘Sonic’.
