Brrr! With the body’s temptation to want to shut down and start hibernating, thankfully there are so many weird and wonderful things in the outside world to keep us out of bed Today is a glorious day so I shall happily believe it. And so much happening! In my own world too, before the London Jazz festival’s madness begins, Issie Barratt’s fantastic 10-piece band ‘Interchange’ have done their first gig at Scarborough Jazz Festival, which was so much fun! I feel lucky to be lending my vocals to this stunning group, with original music by band members or commissioned specifically for this exciting line-up. Next gig is at The Jazz In the Round on Monday. We’re also playing as part of the London Jazz Festival on 10th November and lots more to come in 2018.
Then for a complete change, onto the Cambridge Jazz Festival with John Turville, us playing standards and whatever we want to put our teeth into, which I’m also really looking forward to. Read here an interview I gave about it (and other things) for LondonJazz.
I am seriously excited about what’s to come in 2018. ‘Interchange’ will be recording their debut album, Babelfish will be back on tour with plans to record their 3rd album (our video featured below to celebrate!), and some imminent releases- all recorded this year- by Dave Manington’s Riff Raff, Frank Harrison’s original duo project, Solstice and plenty more to tell you about- soon!
In the meantime, see below for a chronological list of gigs coming up until the run-up to Christmas, in London and further afield.
For now, I shall leave you with a jazz podcast I was invited to take part in with Rob Cope where we talk about the weather and other things.. Apparently their podcast series have reached the 10.000th download this week, so big congratulations to them!
Lots of love,
