Benji has put a trio together to perform his own material, personnel to be revealed at a later date… They’ve been locked away rehearsing new songs and will be doing some gigs later in the year to ‘road test’ the outfit and the material. Check Benji’s website for dates and announcements - a new website is under construction at the moment which should be going live very soon. Benji has a purely solo mini-tour in May, two shows of which are supporting folk rock legends, Fairport Convention. One a few hundred yards from where Benji lives in Leamington Spa Assembly and the other as part of the ‘Imagined Isle’ festival at Birmingham Town Hall. The rest of the tour dates are on the website.

Shortly after his stint as MD of The Transports, Paul went on a mini-tour with The Wanton Seeds, celebrating the republication of the song collection of the same name, itself one of the revered Marrowbones series of books which contains songs collected from Paul’s ancestors and from his home town. He’s been visiting schools and conducting choirs, and is engaged in R&D and consultancy with the biannual Macclesfield Barnaby Festival and the Royal Shakepeare Company. Shortly after the ‘Slaves’ tour he’ll be on the road again for Belshazzar’s Feast’s Spring Tour.

Eliza Carthy’s The Wayward Band, of which Saul is a key member, launched a new album at Celtic Connections in February, has featured prominently in the media (e.g. front cover of Froots), and is planning a series of festival appearances and a tour later in the year. Saul has also been busy teaching melodeon. and recording in the studio.

New EP & Tour
‘Slaves’

We’re honoured to be recipients of the Schallplatenkritik Bestenlist - German Critics Award in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter/World Music category.
Voted for by a transparent jury of music specialists, the awards cover the entire spectrum of musical genres. Winners in other categories include Kate Tempest, Ennio Morricone and The Rolling Stones!

Following the success of ’ Death And Other Animals’ we’ve released an EP on Westpark Music.
‘Slaves’ features both a studio and live version of the title track, the radio edit of ‘One More Day’, ‘Thresherman’ live, and a set of previously unreleased waltzes.

As well as airplay for both EP and album tracks on, amongst others, Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Show, we spent an evening in the company of Tom Robinson, performing on his BBC 6 Music show.

Our sell-out tour with The Transports garnered stunning reviews, and five stars from The Guardian. An album of the show is nearing completion, to be launched at Shrewsbury Folk Festival in August, and we will tour the UK again early next year.
