Black Mountain Jazz and Pontypool Jazz have teamed up to stage a jazz double header on the weekend of 17th/18th January 2009.

Black Mountain Jazz and Pontypool Jazz have teamed up to stage a jazz double header on the weekend of 17th/18th January 2009.

On Saturday 17th of January Pontypool Jazz will be bringing ace saxophonist Derek Nash’s Protect The Beat to The Comrades Club, Market Street, Pontypool. This popular jazz funk outfit have built up a considerable following at the Brecon and Torfaen festivals and this appearance is sponsored by the Arts Council Wales’ Night Out Scheme.

On Sunday 18th January Black Mountain Jazz welcome The Cliveden Set to their regular venue The Kings Arms, Nevil Street, Abergavenny. This local seven piece band play swing era hits by the likes of Fats Waller, Django Reinhardt, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter. Sounds a fascinating mix.
Start time is 7.30 p.m. with tickets priced at £6.00 (£5.00 members).
