Laila Biali wins Juno Award.

The ACT recording artist, singer, pianist and songwriter Laila Biali has received the Juno Award, Canada’s most important, cross-genre music prize for her self-titled 2018 debut album.

Singer, pianist and songwriter Laila Biali has received the JUNO AWARD, Canada’s most important, cross-genre music prize for her self-titled 2018 ACT debut album „Laila Biali“. Other nominees in the „vocal jazz“ category included the likes of Diana Krall & Tony Bennett or Holly Cole. Laila Biali will return to Europe this fall with a new album and a European tour.

The award marks another peak in the remarkable history of the album, which, since its‘ release received high critical praise on both sides of the Atlantic. The Daily Mail (US) states that “Laila Biali masterfully mixes jazz and pop” and the UK’s leading jazz magazine Jazzwise adds: “Already highly acclaimed in North America, with Laila Biali’s mellifluous vocals, dynamic pianism and ability for penning, hook-laden songs that reputation is surely going to flourish further afield.”.


In Germany, the album reached far beyond the core-jazz media, followed by a nationwide release tour. Laila Biali was featured in several mainstream tv formats such as ZDF Morgenmagazin and RB / NDR “3 nach 9” as well as album of the week on many public radio programmes. The countries‘ leading lifestyle magazine „Gala“ wrote: „Laila Biali’s world is way to colourful for pre-set categories. In her version of jazz she happily mixes pop, latin and blues spreading good vibrations.”
