Dani Harris writes;
We’ve been busy booking up Remi Harris’ 2020 tour and have three exciting shows. The tour will kick off at the end of January with the unveiling of Remi’s brand new trio show Light & Shade. Fusing several genres, it is his most diverse and eclectic show to date and features music ranging from the acoustic jazz, swing and gypsy jazz of the 30s and 40s to the psychedelic rock and blues of the 60s and 70s. Remi will play a variety of acoustic guitars and electric guitars; accompanied by double and electric bass, and drums.
In February, he will be launching Remi Harris & The Electric Beat Combo. This new project showcases 60s and 70s psychedelic instrumental rock and blues, and features guitar, bass and drums. There will be lots of jamming, blues and big riffs and might get loud!
Remi will also continue to present the Remi Harris Duo throughout 2020. With a variety of guitars and a ukulele, he will perform with double bassist Tom Moore. Concert goers can expect a spectacular night of virtuoso guitar playing - with influences from jazz, blues, rock’n’roll, funk, classical and world music. Musically the show is a reflection of Remi’s artistic influences - with repertoire ranging from Django Reinhardt to Jimi Hendrix and all things in between, including The Beatles, Peter Green and new compositions from his anticipated third album.
REMI HARRIS 2020 TOUR
Internationally renowned jazz and blues guitarist Remi Harris has announced dates for his 2020 tour, which will see him present exciting new projects at over 40 theatres and music venues up and down the country.
Remi, who was born in Hereford, says “I’m looking forward to getting back out on the road and I’m especially excited to be playing a variety of styles and projects within this tour”
Remi’s music has reached new audiences and he continues to gain recognition for his virtuoso talent, with the recent honour of his first signature model from Fylde guitars. This further cements Remi’s reputation as a leading guitarist in his field.
Jamie Cullum, International Star, said, “Remi Harris is an incredible guitarist, I’m absolutely blown away by his talent.”
In his career to date, Remi has performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, Buckingham Palace, BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with Jamie Cullum and live on BBC Radios 2 & 3.
From the day Remi was born his mother of French origin chose the name Remi, inspired by the musical scale DO-RE-MI. His first album is called ‘Ninick’ in memory of his mother. Primarily self taught with the help of his Dad’s guitar magazines and records, Remi started playing at the age of 7, initially inspired by rock and blues guitarists of the 60s and 70s such as Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green and Jimmy Page. In his late teens he developed an interest in jazz music, in particular artists such as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and Stan Getz. Since then he has an increasing following on YouTube and social media around the world and a growing reputation for blending all of his influences into his own individual style of playing.
At the British Jazz Awards 2017, Remi came second place in the ‘Guitarist of the Year’ category - being beaten to the top slot by legendary Martin Taylor MBE, who describes Remi as “brilliant”.
Acoustic Guitar Magazine named Remi one of the “Acoustic Acts of 2017”, and he has headlined numerous international festivals and played countless prestigious venues around the world.
