It’s been a great summer of music. I spent most of July touring beautiful cities of Italy and at the Bohemian Jazz Festival in Czech Republic with Bill Frisell’s Wish Upon A Star. There were some gigs with Chico Freeman at North Sea Jazz and Ghent Jazz Festivals and a concert with Paola Quagliata in Como, Italy. August was a nice month of performances with Jon Irabagon and Mike DiRubbo at Smalls, Emily Braden at 55 Bar, Marcos Valera at Fatcat, JD Allen for Harlem Music Festival, Nabate Isles at Jazz Standard, Helen Sung and ending the month on a couple gigs with Amina Figarova.
I am really looking forward to September. I’ll be at the Stone with the exceptional saxophonist Michael Blake followed by a performance at Zinc Bar with the soulful Misha Piatigorski. I am looking forward to playing with the amazing Tim Armacost at Smalls, before leaving to play the Monterey Jazz Festival with the great Bill Frisell Trio. Then, I will leave for South Africa to perform at the Johannesburg Jazz Festival with the incredible Amina Figarova. This is going to be a nice month of recordings as well. I will announce them in next month’s newsletter after they are finished.
I look forward to playing with these musicians and friends as fellow leaders and sidemen on these gigs: Ben Allison, Frank Kimbrough, Thomas Morgan, Bart Platteau, Scott Colley, Jim Ridl and more.
Again, it is an honor and blessing to play for you and to perform with these great leaders and all the awesome bandmates with whom I will share the stage.
I hope to see you at these performances.
