SHREWSBURY JAZZ NETWORK LISTINGS:
JAZZ IN SHROPSHIRE
DECEMBER 2017

This is the latest monthly SJN listing for jazz gigs in Shropshire. We try to make sure that all the information we send is accurate and up-to-date. However cancellations do happen, we sometimes receive inadequate information and we can make mistakes! So if you need to be sure, check for yourselves by telephoning the venues. Venue contacts are listed following the gig listings.

There is no SJN gig this month, though next year’s very exciting first gig is listed following this month’s events.
Around the county, there is as usual a wide variety of excellent jazz.  For example: Clun Valley Jazz presents award-winning pianist Elliott Sansom at Craven Arms (15th).  Bridgnorth Jazz has Rico Tomasso (3rd) and Tina May and Craig Milverton (17th).  Guitar buffs should enjoy Mozes Rosenberg (Shrewsbury, 7th and 8th) and Garry Potter (Oswestry, 16th).

Thank you very much for your support throughout the year.  We wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and look forward to sharing more wonderful music in 2018.

American Jeff Williams, a player/composer of subtlety and imagination, has worked with many jazz legends including Getz, Konitz, Petrucciani, Scofield and Dave Liebman, who said: “his wealth of experience is staggering and very deep”. This superb group includes the phenomenal American John O’Gallagher (“experimental with a clear melodic slant”), rising British star Josh Arcoleo and the Downes/Lasserson powerhouse duo well known at the Hive.  Expect to hear work from Jeff’s forthcoming album “Lifelike”, exemplifying his aim of making “pleasurable, thought-provoking” music.
