The Hot Strings Review featuring Louise Messenger
‘The Hot Strings Review comprises Mike Piggott (Violin), Laurence Corns (Guitar/Vocals) and Tom Wheatley (Double Bass). Founded by Mike Piggott who has been described by the New York Times as ‘one of the best jazz fiddlers anywhere’, they will be exploring the repertoire of 30s giants such as Stuff Smith, Fats Waller and Slim Gaillard with smoking intensity. Collectively the group has worked with a wide range of artists from different genres such as Bert Jansch, Peter Green, Martin Taylor, Bucky Pizzarelli, Madeleine Peyroux, The Bhundu Boys and Bryan Ferry. This gives them a unique take on the music, making them not just your average Gypsy Swing Band.
To add a sweet, sultry quality to the show they will be joined by singer Louise Messenger who, as a recent arrival from Australia has been making quite a name on the London swing scene. As a dancer herself she has won the heart of the Lindy Hop community and is described by Adelaide’s Theatre Guide as ‘a performer of immense talent conveying a love of her craft for the enjoyment of her audience’..

Loco Ironico - Up Close & Personal
Think Dr John,Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Buena Vista.
Loco Ironico is The brainchild of British singer-songwriter Joe Cang and Italian musician and composer Matteo Saggese.
Loco Ironico is The brainchild of British singer-songwriter Joe Cang and Italian musician and composer Matteo Saggese.
Songs of GMO crops, shipwreck and elusive future physical fitness that draw on New Orleans jazz, Cuban tango and Caribbean calypso.
Think Dr John,Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Buena Vista.
‘We started writing on a rainy day in London and quickly realised that this was music that wanted to be made in one go, no tricks, smoke or mirrors, just people, instruments, microphones and music all together live in one room, capturing the unique moments as they happen.
So, in a tiny medieval village in the mountains near Naples, nourished by the warmth, peace and pace of village life, they set up a studio in an old house with Jerry Boys at the recording controls and featuring the likes of Phil Manzanera, Sarah Jane Morris, Tony Remy and Steve Sidwell
Building on the critically acclaimed Carpe Afternoon with their second album Mambo Gumbo and their EP The Covers mixing sounds, styles and songs together into a slow-cooked sonic stew for your musical nourishment.
A recent review of their London show at Pizza Express Dean St described them as:
“Rich, alive and with roots in sounds that have been sorely missing from an homogenising landscape, Loco Ironico are the real deal.”
As Joe says: ‘This is music for those with a taste for the ironic and laconic and for those who prefer whisky to tonic”
Please be aware about our policy during the evening: When nec we reserve the right to implement a £25 pp minimum spend on ticketed concert nights to be able to support our 5 star musicians, as the musicians receive ticket monies .

Classic Jazz Vocals with Joe Diodato
Joe Diodato is an Italian Jazz Vocalist and Composer. In 2018 he moved to London, he formed a Trio and started gigging in many London’s venues and clubs. A few months later, Joe formed a Quartet and in June 2019 he released his first EP “Ma’ Groove”: It combines classic and modern jazz with contemporary funk and soul, and was influenced by Joe’s collaboration with emerging artists from the South East London jazz scene.
Joe has become a household name in many of London’s top venues, including Vortex Jazz Club, Ninety One Club, Spice of Life, JazzTrain, Karamel, Oliver’s, Luna Lounge, Buenos Aires Cafe, Prince of Greenwich, Hand of Glory, Clapton Hart and others.
Joe models his practice on many of his influences such as Kurt Elling, Mark Murphy, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Roy Hargrove, Chet Baker, Jamiroquai, Pino Daniele and many more.
His music combines classical and modern jazz with contemporary funk and soul: a mix of Joe’s original compositions, which lyrics are in English, Spanish,
Italian and standards from the American Songbook, the South-American Latin jazz repertoire, the Classical Neapolitan and Italian Songbook.

Fiesta Flamenca Ensemble
Anita and Ramon met in London where they joined forces creating Fiesta Flamenca, a wonderful display of flamenco dance and guitar combined with Latin American songs. This spellbinding show, after many years, still captivates the audience from across the world. What Anita and Ramon share is an underlying musicality and soulful sound that is an integral part of their expression. Their combined talent are woven together creating a dazzling display of virtuosity and emotions that spark the imagination of their audience transporting them to the heart of Andalucia.  Anita la Maltesa whose sensual voice and breathtaking footwork evokes the true spirit of traditional flamenco and Ramon’s inspirational guitar playing has expanded the possibilities of flamenco and changed perceptions of the art form by mining the richness of its traditions while continuing to recall many other genres of music. The result is a marriage of both traditional flamenco dance and guitar with Latin American music, creating a spectacle of virtuoso performances and euphoria that can only be described as “breathtakingly beautiful”.

Prestige Concert
Sarah Jane Morris & Tony Remy
“…a transcendent mix of cold fury and compassion” THE OBSERVER
“…this is a remarkable album…for its ambition, its sound world, its powerful stories and, at its centre, the breath-taking range and timbral richness of Sarah Jane
Morris’s voice..” JAZZWISE
Sarah-Jane Morris is the British soul, jazz and r&b singer who topped the UK pop charts for a month in 1986 (with The Communards’ disco version of ‘Don’t Leave Me
This Way’) and then eloquently and joyously sidestepped the mainstream ever after. Morris’s magnificent soul voice and emotional power would have brought multiple
Grammy awards and celebrity status to most singers with her charisma and drive. But for over 25 years of a unique career, Morris has steered by her own star, not the
music industry’s, and that independence has brought her a devoted audience, inspired by her belief in the power of song to change hearts and minds.
Sarah Jane is doing a series of intimate concerts accompanied by the virtuoso guitarist Tony Remy to promote “Bloody Rain” and her forthcoming tribute to John
Martyn “Sweet Little Mystery”.
John Martyn produced a canon of music that is both breathtakingly bold and achingly tender in its complex, atmospheric beauty. Martyn’s music influenced a generation of
his peers, friends and fans alike. His contribution continues to resonate many years after his passing. He has picked up endless acclaim worldwide from those fortunate
enough to be seduced by his unique voice and instrumental mastery; and his music will live forever in the annals of popular music history. Sarah Jane Morris, through
her own brilliant interpretive vocal talents, has picked up this torch to shine a light on this great musical maverick, illuminating his life’s work, in her inspirational new show.
**Tony Remy** is one of the world’s most exciting guitar players of any genre. His hard- edged rhythmically driven approach is enriched with jazz intuition and bluesy soul. Live on stage, his relentless invention and incredible raw energy can set the crowd on fire. The reputation he has gained within the jazz community worldwide is fast making a legend out of this North London musician. He has toured and recorded with a wide range of musicians which include: Courtney Pine, Jason Rebello, Julian
Joseph, Freddy Hubbard, Jean Toussaint, Steve Williamson, Lonny Liston Smith, Lenny White, Omar, Steps Ahead, Gary Barlow, Simply Red, US3, Cleveland Watkiss, Pee Wee Ellis, Ronny Laws, Nelson Rangell, Connor Reeves, Maysa Leak, Down to the Bone, Matt Bianco, Karen Ramirez, Noel McKoy, Annie Lennox, Craig David, Icognito, M-People and many more.
Dedicated to the people of Africa and the music of that continent that has inspired so many artists for so long, Bloody Rain brings together a stunningly diverse group of performers. Among a raft of guests on the album are the Zimbabwe-born singer Eska, Senegal’s Seckou Keita on kora, the Soweto Gospel Choir and Adam Glasser
from South Africa, American/Israeli jazz trumpeter Avishai Cohen, the UK-Caribbean saxophonist Courtney Pine and the former James Brown arranger Pee Wee Ellis - and of course the soulmates from Morris’s touring band including guitarist and co- writer of many of the new songs Tony Remy, Sting sideman Dominic Miller, Henry Thomas, Martyn Barker, Tim Cansfield and Adriano Adewale. On vocals Morris is accompanied on the album by a magnificent choir – well-known British jazz singer Ian Shaw, her son Otis Coulter, Janine Johnson, Lilybud Dearsley, Gianluca Di Martini and Roberto Angrisani. Bloody Rain is an ambitious collection of love-songs, tributes, warnings and protests that Sarah Jane regards as one of the best albums of her life.
