Rebecca Nash writes;

Hello, hello

Live shows return!

As we head into the autumn by means of a mad Indian Summer today, it gives me great pleasure to announce a bunch of dates in the run up to Christmas (…feels weird to be saying that!…) with several projects that I’m really happy to be touring with over the next few months.

It would be an absolute delight to have you at any of these shows below and to be sharing live music with you all again.

First up, my latest project Redefining Element 78, (the follow up album to Peaceful King featuring the amazing saxophonist John O Gallagher), due to be released in 2022 on Whirlwind Recordings, has a couple of dates in November. I am BEYOND excited to be playing at St George’s in Bristol and in London at The Spice Of Life as part of the London Jazz Festival.

FRI 5 NOVEMBER
St George’s, Bristol

WED 17 NOVEMBER
*EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL* Spice of Life, London

Also, I want to mention about a very cool collab I’m working on at the moment with trumpeter Nick Walters - we’ve had our heads down throughout lockdown working on a duo album which features some special guests. The music will be released on his label D.O.T. Records. But in the meantime here are some gigs in the diary with the Nick Walters Quintet.

SAT 13 NOVEMBER
Jazz En Nord, Lille, France

FRI 3 DECEMBER
Jazz Cafe, London

I’m also about to start touring next week with brand new project What She Said featuring fellow Bristolians Sara Colman, Katya Gorrie, Ruth Hammond, and Tammy Payne. This project is a celebration of pioneering women in music, who have been key role-models for the band members. I took my inspiration from the Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderly Studio Album, and the Joe Henderson/Alice Coltrane album, The Elements, co-writing two pieces with Sara and Ruth (Ruth is playing bass clarinet on one piece - actual heaven). See dates below.

SUN 19 SEPTEMBER
St George’s Brandon Hill, Bristol

THU 30 SEPTEMBER
Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) Cardiff

FRI 1 OCTOBER
St John’s College Auditorium, Oxford

SUN 3 OCTOBER

MON 4 OCTOBER

Guitarist Steve Banks is also touring his brilliant new suite entitled ‘Emboldened’ - the line up for this project is completely dreamy: Sam Crockatt, Henrik Jensen, Mark Whitlam make up the rest of the band, and we have a lovely run of dates before heading into the studio to record his epic music at Sansom Studios to be released in January.

THU 23 SEPTEMBER
Soundcellar, Poole

FRI 24 SEPTEMBER
Widcombe Social Club, Bath

WED 29 SEPTEMBER
Ashburton Art Centre, Devon

Sara Colman’s ‘Joni Mitchell - Ink on a Pin’ tour which features a string quartet (yum), is heading off on the road too 😊 She recorded this album back in 2019 at Real World Studios as part of an artist-in-residency at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire but the release had to be put on hold for obvious reasons. BUT now it’s back!

SAT 6 NOVEMBER

FRI 19 NOVEMBER

FRI 26 NOVEMBER

I’m just going to leave you with this little piece below called TURNING OVER STONES, written by Sara and filmed for the Sage Summer Studio Residency last summer.
This tune will be featured on our duo album - which is in the pipeline. So much brilliant music to be played and shared with you all!!
I hope you enjoy.
Much love R xx
