Modern Gypsy Jazz Tour
Hosted by Tobie Medland - Violin and Skylark Trio

By fusing elements of Contemporary Classical and Modern Jazz with virtuosic group improvisation the Tobie Medland Ensemble are pushing the boundaries of Gypsy Jazz, allowing the genre to reflect the stylistic developments of American Jazz.

Tobie Medland - Violin
Alongside a formal training in the Violin, Tobie studied Composition at the Royal College Of Music Junior Department and then the University Of Leeds. Tobie has since played across the UK as well as toured Europe and released a debut EP, “Pavement Jazz.” Tobie is cofounder of the Skylark Trio. Having had residencies at numerous London venues the trio is at the forefront of the new wave of young Gypsy Jazz musicians in the U.K.

Bim Williams - Electric Guitar
Manchester based, Bim is one of the most prolific young Jazz musicians playing on the thriving North Western Jazz scene. A prominant rising star, he has spent the last four years playing around the north of England with his trio and various projects, whilst studying music at Salford University.

Cornelius Corkery - Gypsy Guitar
Stalwart of the northern jazz scene, Cornelius Corkery has been playing his trade all across the U.K. and abroad since 2014. He is originally from York, where he led a number of successful bands as well as jam sessions across the city. Since moving to London in 2018 he has been making a notable impact on the gypsy jazz circuit, as well as cofounded the Skylark Trio.

Tom Williams - Double Bass
Originally hailing from Birmingham, Tom Williams moved south to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and has since become a regular fixture on the London Jazz scene. He has played as sideman for notable artists such as Liane Carrol and Jim Mullen. Tom is host of the weekly jam session at the world renowned Gypsy Jazz and Swing venue Le Quecumbar, in Battersea.

Following the tour, the quartet are recording an album. Keep in touch for details!
