‘A Christmas Story’ was written by Richard Burton in 1965. Having lost his mother at only 2 years of age, Richard is living with his older sister in Port Talbot by the age of 8. It’s Christmas Eve and Richard is pondering Christmas gifts. However he is worried that his sister is about to die as she has taken to her bed and many people are attending to her. He is told to leave the house and goes out around the town accompanied by his Uncle, ‘Mad Dan’ a bit of an off the wall character. They head off towards the bonfire at ‘the end’ where miners and the community are gathered.
