Dave Fuller writes;
A year with our Nord
It was a year ago that we took delivery of our Nord Stage 4 keyboard, bought with a very kind and generous donation from my friend and former employer of 22 years, Sumir Karayi. The 88-key Nord Stage 4 is the Swedish company’s flagship product, offering premium feel piano action with plenty of built in acoustic and electric piano sounds. It also includes a full organ module and fully featured synth module, making it ideal for the varied styles of music that we have on our program.
Along with the drum kit and bass amp that we bought in 2023 and with the use of a guitar amp kindly loaned by Marzy as required, we are able to provide full backline for visiting bands when needed. This is particularly useful for younger bands, especially those from London, who come to Worcester on the train and are therefore limited by what they can carry. It also enables bands that are driving to come in fewer vehicles - better for the environment and our budget, especially considering the crazy cost of fuel right now!
It was first played by Cenk Esen of the band Dreamscapes in June. Allexa Nava’s keys player Cody Moss used it in November and Kezia Abuoma (one of the eight members of Ankora), played it in January. They had all come up from London on the train. In March this year, it enabled Sungrass to car-share for their drives in from London and Bristol and just last month, Poppy Daniels came up from London on the train with her band when Eddie Lee made use of it.
I know Sumir subscribes to this newsletter, so if you are reading this Sumir, thank you once again for your donation. It really has made a practical difference to what we can offer visiting bands and to our audience, who get to enjoy music in Worcester that they might not otherwise get to hear live locally.
