Saxophonist and composer Alex Clarke will release her new album "Out of the Woods" on 1st October 2025. She also has a number of live shows scheduled for August and September. Details attached.

NEW ALBUM: ‘Out of the Woods’

I am delighted to announce my new album will be released on October 1st.
The album explores the music of altoist Phil Woods, who’s been such a huge influence on me ever since I first started playing. I had so much fun recording this with my wonderful quartet, and I’m really excited to finally share it with you all.
“Due for release in Autumn 2025, ‘Out Of The Woods’ celebrates the legacy of alto saxophonist Phil Woods. Featuring fresh reworkings of both classic and lesser-known Woods repertoire alongside original compositions inspired by his distinctive sound, this new release showcases Alex’s deep connection to the bebop tradition. Recorded at Master Chord Studio in May 2025, the album features David Newton, Dave Green and Steve Brown, with liner notes by Alan Barnes.”

To be completely honest, I’ve taken a bit of a gamble trying to fill a room on a Monday night in September with just over two weeks to go… But I couldn’t let this album go out into the world without celebrating its release properly with a gig. So call me mad, but we’re doing it, and I’d be so grateful to see some familiar faces in the crowd to make the night really special.

Other News…
This summer I’ve had the pleasure of playing at some great venues and festivals with some of my favourite musicians. A particular highlight has been working alongside my wonderful friend Emily Masser, including appearances at Swanage, Buxton & Brecon Festivals, as well as a sold-out show at Pizza Express.
Emily actually released her debut album as a bandleader earlier this year, alongside her father Dean Masser on tenor saxophone, and a fantastic trio of Matyas Gayer, James Owston & Steve Brown. It is incredibly swinging and you should definitely go and listen to it/buy it!
