Allexa Nava - Three West Midlands Dates

I first encountered saxophonist and flautist Allexa Nava, originally from Peru and now living in London, performing at the Brick Lane Jazz Festival last year in the all-female Latin ensemble Colectiva (check out their performance of ‘How Do You Like Your Ladies’ at Glastonbury, 2023).

She also performs in the ‘Paradise Under The Stars’ Cuban experience show in London and released her debut EP “No Language” on the Jazz Re:freshed label in February (featured in Music Matters 27 Jan 2025).

I contacted Allexa in March to discuss a booking and I’ve seen her quartet perform in London a few times since, at The Jazz Cafe, Royal Festival Hall (Clore Ballroom) and Ninety-One Living Room.

Mentored by London artist development organisation Tomorrow’s Warriors, Allexa is one of three artists featured on the first run of their Warriors Rise program, along with Maddy Coombs and Donovan Haffner, providing a national touring opportunity for these emerging artists. Allexa will be touring with her quartet in the Autumn with three dates in the West Midlands.

The Worcester date with us in November is an independent booking, while the Clun Valley and Birmingham dates are through the Warriors Rise program. I’d highly recommend getting to one of these shows if you can, but in the meantime you can check out her live performance of ‘Recortes’ on YouTube.
