Nice Jazz Festival postponed till August

Rumours of a change of date for the 76th edition of the Nice Jazz Festival (NJF) have been circulating in the city for some time. It’s now been confirmed by the deputy mayor of Nice in charge of events, Graig Monetti that NJF that’s organised by Nice City Council and had been scheduled from the 18th to 21st July will will now take place in the third week of August.

This is due to it being an an exceptional year for events in Nice. The city hosts the final two stages of this year’s Tour de France on 20th and 21st of July as Paris will be preoccupied with the Olympics, and then from 24th the Allianz Riviera stadium. So it has been decided that the NJF is one event too many for the city to cope with in the same time period.

The deputy mayor also stated there is the intention in future to expand the NJF’s capacity, improve the quality of the experience including the food on offer, and bring the biggest world superstars to the NJF to attract increased numbers necessary to fill the expanded capacity.

We will have to wait and see to what extent these ambitions aims are fulfilled. In the meantime as yet there has been no announcement about the line-up for this year’s NJF when it takes centre stage in the city in the third week in August.
