The Green Note has forwarded its latest newsletter including details of forthcoming musical events.

Upcoming Highlights from Green Note.

Hello music lovers,

Well, we’re coming into festival season and there are some good ones happening! But if festivals are not your thing (or even if they are), there’s still plenty of good music happening at Green Note… seven nights a week!

A few of our upcoming highlights…

This Wednesday (22nd June) we’re looking forward to a much anticipated album launch from British songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist JASON MCNIFF, for his new album ‘Tonight We Ride’ where he covers the songs of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Dire Straits, Townes Van Zandt, Bert Jansch, Tom Russell and more. The gig will also feature special guest DAVE SUTHERLAND.

The following night (Thurs 23rd June), we have something completely different (as often happens at Green Note!). We welcome back world fusion group DEMACHENA, who have continuously pushed the boundaries that define musical genres. The result is an inimitable concoction with influences ranging from traditional Shona mbira, Saharaui Haul, and even Flamenco – producing a more familiar sound to some obscure genres. Every performance is a pulsating and riveting musical journey - not to be missed!

We’re also looking forward to welcoming back New York legend JACK GRACE (Fri 24th June), with support from special guest GEORGE BREAKFAST. Jack has spent decades on the road in the US, Canada and Europe, playing his “Twisted Americana Country Rock”. He has performed with a wide variety of artists, from Jerry Lee Lewis to Norah Jones, Doc Watson to Fishbone, Merle Haggard to The Meters and his songbook of many genres blends with them all. He is an accomplished fingerpicking solo performer that could have you shed a tear; as well as a storied band leader comfortably riding his well worn power trio into a dance frenzy!

Other upcoming highlights include… An acoustic evening to raise funds for Ukraine Aid featuring two folk/rock bands - WOLF MOON + DEAD JACKALS - playing exclusive acoustic sets (Sun 26th June), California’s own multi-award winning SAM CHASE TRIO (Weds 29th June) who blend epic arrangements with hard-living poetry and a dash of rock and roll spirit, and a special VINYL LISTENING NIGHT (Tues 28th June) hosted by Russell Swallow - this month featuring Carole King’s ‘Tapestry’ played in full on Rare AAA vinyl, with live performances from Russell Swallow and Anna Pancaldi, talking about the music and stories behind the album and how it’s inspired them as musicians.

All this and much much more… check out the events page on our website for the full listings. And if you don’t have plans for tonight (Mon 20th June) we’ll be welcoming JULIA KOZAKOVA whose debut album Manuša tracks old traditional Roma (Gypsy) songs and their stories from Slovakia and Central Europe. Her voice is accompanied by a traditional cimbalom band composed of some of the most recognized Roma musicians from Slovakia. Well worth checking out!

Hope to see you at one of our gigs very soon!

Lots of love,

Immy & Risa xx
