The Green Note has forwarded its latest newsletter with details of forthcoming musical events.

Hello Green Note Music Lovers,

May is blooming with an array of exceptional live performances at Green Note! From toe-tapping jug band tunes to soulful singer-songwriters and global grooves, there’s something special for everyone!

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…

There is a real global theme to our programme this month, with music from around the world. Here is a selection of what we have in store….

We have a fantastic line up this bank holiday weekend! We kick things off tonight (Fri 2nd May) when EL CHAMUYO QUARTET make their Green Note debut with their energetic mix of tango and jazz – a must-see for lovers of fiery, danceable grooves! Tomorrow night (Sat 3rd May) sees the return of wildly entertaining THE JAKE LEG JUG BAND, who bring the roaring 1920s to life with their infectious blend of jazz, blues, gospel, and ragtime. Their vintage charm and humour are guaranteed to get your feet tapping! And on Monday (6th May) we welcome SOUTH FOR WINTER, a New Zealand born, Nashville based Americana duo whose sound blends dreamy acoustic duets, foot-stomping folk and bluesy murder ballads. It’s definitely worth checking them out!

Next week brings us the return of Green Note favourites, The GYPSY DREAMERS (Fri 9th May), an eclectic group of musicians who mix Latin jazz, bossa nova, flamenco, and chanson into a spellbinding, global soundscape. On Sunday 11th May, we have a treat for folk fans with the return of BBC Folk Award-winning guitarist and singer-songwriter SAM CARTER, renowned for his narrative-rich songwriting, which Uncut described as being “as penetrating as Richard Thompson’s best work”. Pretty high praise!

And two other Green Note favourites return this month for a very special double bill of lyrical depth and warmth as Canada’s CATHERINE MACLELLAN & UK’s LUCY FARRELL join forces for an intimate night of storytelling and harmony. Highly recommended! We also look forward to Green Note debuts from JAM GROOVE (Fri 16th May) - a new Senegalese band who fuse West African rhythms with funk and jazz energy, and AYSE ROZA & CENK SANLIOGLU who present a powerful mix of Mesapotamian and Anatolian music, and have come highly recommended to us!

GREEN NOTE HITS THE ROAD

While Green Note remains at the heart of what we do, we’re thrilled to bring our signature intimate music experiences to a few other special venues across London this May, as our “home away from home” series continues.

On Wednesday (8th May), join us at The Water Rats for an evening with the mesmerising SAM BROOKES. Known for his soaring vocals and emotive songwriting, Sam’s performances are a masterclass in heartfelt expression. Highly recommended!

Later in the month we’re at St Pancras Old Church with the ethereal GEORGIA RUTH (Thurs 15th May). A Welsh singer-songwriter, Georgia presents a candid and affecting collection of songs, spanning wide-open Americana to 60s-influenced folk ballads. Her live performances are a rare treat, and this one is not to be missed.

tClosing out our May series, we welcome the return of HANNAH ROSE PLATT who will be celebrating the release her new album, Fragile Creatures, with a full band performance like no other (28th May @ Water Rats)! This powerful album (produced by Ed Harcourt) explores the myths, superstitions, and societal pressures surrounding female health, blending personal stories with poignant cultural and historical commentary.

This is just a selection of the many incredible artists who will be gracing our stage in the coming weeks, so please do check out our EVENTS PAGE for the full listings. And please note that many of our shows sell out in advance, so we highly recommend grabbing your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

And if you can’t decide, check out our NEW SPOTIFY PLAYLIST for a taster of what’s coming up in May!
