The Green Note, which is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary, has forwarded its latest newsletter with details of forthcoming musical events.

Hello Green Note Music Lovers,

 

August is a special month for us at Green Note - this August marks our 20 year anniversary!!  And the month is shaping up to be an unforgettable one - from high‑energy rhythm & blues to cinematic Americana and atmospheric folk ensembles, we’ve hand‑picked a line‑up that will carry you from foot‑stomping nights to intimate, candlelit listening experiences and from exciting Green Note debuts to some of our favourite returning acts. Everything you’ve come to expect from Green Note over the past 20 years!


We’re also planning some special 20th anniversary merchandise and are on the look out for artists, designers and illustrators to get involved, so if this sounds like you or someone you know, read on!

 

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…

Upcoming Green Note debuts we’re super excited for include folk inspired all female group MURMURATIONS (Wed 6th Aug), weaving cello, flute, bouzouki and harmonium into atmospheric, folk‑infused soundscapes; Americana lovers will enjoy Nashville’s GRANVILLE AUTOMATIC (Tue 12th Aug) with their cinematic storytelling songs, while guitar maestro IAGO BANET, ‘The Galician King of Acoustic Guitar’ (Wed 13th Aug) is sure to mesmerise with his wordless instrumental tales. We also welcome the eclectic MAYDAN ENSEMBLE (Fri 15th Aug) of the North London Jazz Collective, who blend modern jazz with Arabic, Anatolian and Persian folk traditions for a truly global listening experience. All of these acts have come highly recommended to us and we can’t wait to welcome them to our stage!


We’re also delighted to see the return of many Green Note favourites this month: blues legend ERROL LINTON (Sat 16 th Aug), gorgeous blues singer MELISSA JAMES (Sun 17th Aug) who blends folk, gospel, jazz and life tales with a large helping of soul, one‑man‑band RORY MCLEOD (Thu 14th Aug), and the stunning world jazz vocalist VIMALA ROWE (Tue 19th Aug) makes a very welcome return after an extended break and we can’t wait to welcome her back! Eastern European swing comes alive with DUNAJSKA KAPELYE (Sun 10th Aug), while the ever brilliant VAGABAND (Fri 8th Aug) bring their Americana‑inflected folk‑rock, and one of the top New Orleans R&B outfits in London, TIM PENN & THE SECOND LINE (Sat 9th Aug) serve up a heady gumbo next weekend! And this weekend sees the ever‑popular HARRY DIPLOCK SESSIONS (Sun 3rd Aug) deliver dazzling gypsy‑jazz in true Django style, and THE VOODOO VENDORS (Sat 2nd Aug) featuring Congo Faith Healers frontman Sonny West, bring their high‑energy voodoo rhythm & blues to our stage, guaranteed to get you moving! All very highly recommended!!

CALLING ALL ARTISTS, DESIGNERS & ILLUSTRATORS
We will be celebrating 20 years of Green Note this year(!!!), and we are planning to make some special merchandise for the occasion.
We’re looking for someone who can design some artwork for us, so if you love Green Note and have the skills, please get in touch and send us some examples of your work. It’ll be a unique chance to be part of Green Note history. The deadline to apply is Friday 8th August.
