Upcoming Musical Highlights - October part 1
Hello Green Note Music Lovers,
As the nights grow longer and the air more autumnal, we’re delighted to bring you a warm season of music that spans folk, jazz, Americana and more…
UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…
We’re looking forward to a Green Note debut this week from Canadian country music man ZACHARY LUCKY (Sun 12th Oct) whose songs are steeped in prairie landscapes and timeless emotion - fans of Gordon Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson won’t want to miss this. Also from Canada, environmental and social justice activist TARA MACLEAN (Wed 8th Oct) will be intertwining performances of her music with readings from her best-selling book, Song of the Sparrow, and HAWKSLEY WORKMAN is back for the final 2 dates of his special 4-part residency. A very welcome Canadian take-over!
Award-winning singer-songwriter KIRSTEN ADAMSON (Weds 15th Oct @ Water Rats) carries forward a rich folk legacy with songs both vulnerable and bold, summoning the same heart-stopping purity as Sandy Denny, by way of Emmylou Harris and Kate Bush. While Mississippi Delta songstress BRONWYNNE BRENT (Wed 15th Oct) offers a stirring mix of Southern gothic, jazz, and Americana in her lyrical narratives - a true Green Note favourite! PI JACOBS makes her Green Note debut this Thursday (9th Oct) blending roots-rock swagger and storytelling soul, with a style that draws comparisons to Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, and Lucinda Williams. And then later in the month, don’t miss the collaborative magic of VERA VAN HEERINGEN & BROOKS WILLIAMS (Sun 19th Oct) - two seasoned acoustic voices, weaving harmony, guitar, and delicate dynamics into one unforgettable evening. Lots to look forward to!
In the run-up to London Jazz Festival next month which we’re always proud to be a part of, we have some treats coming up for jazz fans! Mercury-prize nominee JOE WEBB (Weds 8th Oct) will be back with his trio - catch him in the intimacy of our Basement Bar while you still can! Gypsy-jazz maestro HARRY DIPLOCK is back with his monthly residency for what is always a brilliant night of collaboration and improvisation (Thurs 9th Oct), THE FRASER SMITH QUARTET are back with their fiery and energetic hard-bop (Fri 10th Oct), talented jazz singer ANNIE MAJIN (fresh from her run as lead at The Donmar Theatre!) will be presenting hidden gems from the Great American Songbook (Sat 11th Oct), and rising star clarinet player and vocalist GIULIA MARRO and her quartet will be playing swing-inspired songs they love (Sat 18th Oct)!
We’re also super excited for the return of THE LITTLE UNSAID this Friday (10th Oct @ Moth Club). Their live shows are renowned for audience connection, catharsis and celebration in the face of things – which have drawn audiences to the band’s last three sold out UK tours. Lyrics that chart our deepest experiences and matters of the heart which we all share, and music with the art of songwriting at its core that elevates and unites us. They’re definitely worth checking out!
This is just a selection of the many incredible artists who will be gracing our Green Note stage(s) in the coming weeks, so please do check out our EVENTS PAGE for the full listings.
