UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…
This week BUDDY MONDLOCK graces our stage with his intimate storytelling and soulful songwriting - Nanci Griffith called him one of her favourite writers, and Townes Van Zandt said of him: “Buddy Mondlock writes beautiful songs and plays the kind of guitar they deserve. He’s a fine person and a fine artist.” - an American roots master not to be missed (Wed 20th Aug)! Also over from America, MARTHA SPENCER & THE WONDERLAND COUNTRY BAND (Mon 25th Aug) deliver powerful Appalachian-infused folk with longing and virtuosity, and STUART, SPENCE & SHEBISH (Wed 3rd Sept) serve up hard-driving Old-Time Americana to get your toes tapping and heart racing!
From closer to home, we look forward to welcoming back THE LONDON BLUEGRASS BAND this weekend (Sat 23rd August) as they bring their tight-knit, foot-stomping sound to our stage. HATFUL OF RAIN (Sun 31st August), celebrate the launch of their new album ‘Waystation’, with their modern, boundary-defying British Americana, full of warmth and wit. And world jazz vocalist VIMALA ROWE will be presenting her new project of original music created from eclectic influences from Jazz and Blues to African and Indian folk, UK Indie and Soul (Tues 19th Aug). Not to be missed!
We are also excited for some upcoming Green Note debuts - be transported by SAMBAMBO (Fri 29th August) - a dynamic saxophonist with a buttery voice and an enchanting band, marking the release of her exciting new single. And then expect riotous fun with the TRANS-SIBERIAN MARCH BAND (Sat 30th August) - a wild collision of Balkan, Gypsy, Klezmer, hip-hop, and Latin grooves!
