Weirdshire, Hereford - Programme for October and November 2025.
Thursday, October 16, 2025
Herefordshire promoters Weirdshire have announced their programme for October and November 2025.
From the Weirdshire newsletter;
After some wonderful shows in September, and the first part of October, we now look ahead to the next two:
Wednesday October 22nd: Speakeasy Bar
Me Lost Me + Alula Down

Me Lost Me. Jayne Dent is an incredible, individual song writer and singer from Newcastle. We had originally booked her to play a Weirdshire show just before lockdown in 2020, and that, like so many things, was wiped… and it’s taken ages for the planets to align and have this booked again. In the intervening years she’s garnered considerable plaudits and a big audience for her work. The latest album, out on the Upset the Rhythm record label was described by MOJO as:
A David Lynch-directed version of The Unthanks… overwhelmingly powerful ★★★★

Alula Down are Weirdshire’s home grown avant folk/improv duo, Kate Gathercole and Mark Waters. There’s a new album and an evolving live set to match, centred on Kate’s voice and Mark’s double bass and incorporating drone, improvisation, samples, field recordings, and a mixture of refashioned traditional songs and new compositions.
Back in 2020 they were awarded the Guardian Folk Album of the Month for their Summer edition of the Postcards from Godley Moor series.

Moving into November, we are very excited to bring you two fabulous and contrasting artists who both explore the traditional in bang up to the minute ways.
Gwenifer Raymond has rapidly and rightfully gained a reputation as one of the finest and most technically articulate finger picking guitarists in the world. She has released a series of incredible albums on a variety of labels, and toured Europe, the US and Canada with the likes of Michael Chapman, Michael Hurley, Charlie Parr, Lankum, Richard Dawson and Ryley Walker. The latest album is already selling out on vinyl…

Ancient Hostility are a powerhouse duo of mainly unaccompanied singers, bringing anarchist, inclusive politics and resolute solidarity to this traditional format. Their debut album is an inspiration, and full of songs to last long into the future to be sung at the barricades. I can’t wait….
