John Close is a young musician, promoter and teacher based in South Wales. John’s been collaborating with the Coffee Shop & Gallery at Barry Railway Station and its innovative owner Al Edge, to curate a weekly jazz stage for the delight of passengers and visitors alike. We attended last year and promptly booked the band! John, a very talented jazz guitarist, has also featured in several of our BJF lineups, appearing with US visitor Steven Kirby, as part of the Zach Breskel Trio, also with the Siglo Section big band. John has been working with us to invite two feature lineups for our July special Jazz Club & glidepath for BJF2025!
Tickets: £14 Advance / £16 Door / PWYC & Youth

Huw Llewellyn is a very accomplished young trumpeter, whose cool and stylish performances are attracting much positive attention. We admired Huw’s sounds at BJF2023 in the memorable ‘Funkyard’ collective in the Marquee. Huw brings his own hand-picked quartet to July’s Jazz Club set.
Tiggy Blackwell is an amazing new generation trombonist who has also garnered wide acclaim for performances in various lineups: we heard her in Brecon, blasting it out with Funkyard (BJF’23), during BJF2024’s magnificent performance of the Mingus Project, and outstanding melodic soloing with Siglo Section last year. Tiggy brings her quintet to BJC July.
