Merope + M.Haiux

Securing this booking is a real personal milestone. Since beginning the SY Gigs seasons, I’ve been hoping to host Merope.

Merope’s roots lie deep in the soil of Lithuania’s folk tradition, brought vividly to life by Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė’s ethereal vocals and kanklės (a traditional Lithuanian string instrument). These are interwoven with the ornate, exploratory guitar and electronics of Belgian multi-instrumentalist Bert Cools. Together, they create an intimate sound world, a celestial, contemporary reimagining of ancient Baltic music.

Support on the night comes from M.Haiux, the solo project of Liverpool-based guitarist Matthew McPartlan. With minimalistic finger-picked guitar, M.Haiux crafts melodic soundscapes steeped in emotional depth and quiet power.
