Battersea Jazz Festival brings national and international jazz talent to SW London

London, June 25, 2025 - In less than a week, SW London will be the podium for national and international jazz talent. From July 3rd - 12th, Battersea Jazz Festival will welcome the crème de la crème of the global jazz scene in venues in Battersea, Clapham and Nine Elms.

Battersea Jazz Festival has grown year-on-year and is presenting its biggest line-up to date. The Italian Daniele Gorgone Trio and American Gabriele Stravelli Quartet, and national talent including the North London Jazz Collective, Christ-Stéphane Boizi Sextet, and Jim Mullen will perform across various venues such as St. Mary’s Church in Battersea, The Landor Space in Clapham and World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens and St. George’s Church in Nine Elms. The Clapham Grand is once again opening its doors for the festival with a line-up of London’s biggest Big Band and a combination of choirs: The Duke Ellington Sacred Concerts feat. South London Jazz Orchestra and Large Choir.

In the run up to the festival, the Hugo Jennings Big Band will hold a launch party on Monday June 30th at the iconic Pizza Express Dean Street. This party will be a celebration of jazz history, the London jazz scene, and the incredible music to come at the 2025 Battersea Jazz Festival. Think a combination of 20th Century big band repertoire meets arrangements of music from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Oliver! and the Sound of Music!

The Battersea Jazz Festival was founded in 2022 by classical and jazz pianist, singer, and conductor, Hugo Jennings. He came up with the idea for the festival when he was composing a “Jazz Mass” for the choir of St Mary’s Battersea, and wanted to create a platform for jazz musicians in London, and to celebrate the community of Battersea. In 2024, the festival attracted 1,500 visitors. This year will see the fourth edition, with both local and international musicians performing at various locations in the Battersea area. http://www.batterseajazzfestival.co.uk/
