Trumpets of Michel Ange highlights Maalouf’s pioneering quarter-tone trumpet - an instrument invented by his father to bridge Middle Eastern and Western scales. Each composition on the album is written and performed on this unique four-valve trumpet. The artwork features a 1925 photograph of Maalouf’s grandfather with his village band in Lebanon. Praised as a “virtuoso” by the New York Times and “a living legend” by Jon Batiste, Maalouf has released sixteen acclaimed albums, performed to an audience of six million at the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day, and sold-out Paris’s Accor Arena three times. Recent projects include Queen of Sheba with Angélique Kidjo (Grammy nominee Best Global Album) and Capacity to Love, featuring De La Soul, Gregory Porter and more.

“The Proms recording was a special night,” says Maalouf. “It’s a privilege to share that energy and to bring these new UK concerts to life.”
