Newcastle Arts Centre has announced its programme of free 'Jazz Tuesdays' and 'Live Thursdays' events at its Black Swan venue for March and April 2026.
We have received the following information;
LIVE THURSDAYS return to The Black Swan.
Put some rhythm back in your mid-week, as LIVE THURSDAYS return to The Black Swan. We’re a Live-Music Venue through and through. Here at The Black Swan, Thursdays are for platforming live music across genres. LIVE THURSDAYS’ aim is to connect independent musicians with new audiences, and to promote regular FREE live music sets for audiences in the city centre. Check out listings below…

Thurs 5th Mar: Salty Dog
North-East trio Salty Dog blend blues, jazz and Americana. With Terry Docherty on guitar and vocals, Herbie Hudson on chromatic harmonica and vocals, and John Robinson on acoustic bass. This authentic trio deliver up-beat blues with irresistible melodies that will have the audience foot-tapping and finger-clicking together before the night is out.
Thurs 12th Mar: Boomslang
UK based jazz-fusion powerhouse. Mastering high-intensity jazz, driving energy with drum & bass, all while combining hard rock and the sonic edge of electronic production. Known for their uniquely interactive live performances, Boomslang thrive on real time musical conversation – twisting complex harmony, breakneck rhythms, and deep grooves into something unpredictable and electrifying.
Thurs 19th Mar: Ransom Van
Fresh, local four-piece, Ransom Van hit the stage led by the soulful vocals of Shayo. Backed by a curated mix of jazz classics right up to modern R&B, put together by guitar maestro Rich Herdman, with guest artists taking bass and drums.

Tom Remon & Guests
London based jazz guitarist, and regular visitor to the region, Tom Remon will deliver an evening of smooth jazz and masterful string-work. Tom is a frequent collaborator, making no two gigs of his the same. For over a decade he has performed finger-picking jazz guitar across the UK and Europe, and teamed up with complimentary artists such as Sid Jacobs, Neil Yates and Laurence Harrison. Join us as Tom discovers new sounds live with a special guest.

Fourpenny Rabbit
Seasoned jazz pros Jude Murphy and Ray Burns as they take you back to the 1920s, 30s and 40s, with music from the likes of Al Bowlly, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and more. You’re in good hands with Ray on vocals, guitar and harmonica, and Jude on double bass and vocals. Let this duo take you beat-by-beat into the jazz classics of a time-gone-by.
Thurs 23rd Apr:
Eva Fox & The Sound Hounds
Local quartet Eva Fox & The Sound Hounds return to The Black Swan. Jazz vocalist Eva Fox is joined by seasoned musicians that are the beating heart of the local jazz scene: the multi-tasking, musical stylings of Jude Murphy on bass, organ and piano aficionado Steve Chambers and all-round master drummer Sid White.

1st & 3rd Tuesdays: Jazz Jam
Our house trio invites all jazz instrumentalists and singers to join them and jam together. All listeners welcome too.
2nd Tuesdays: Jam Sandwich
This Jam comes in all kinds of flavours, covering afro-beat, funk, soul and world music. It’s all about freedom, expression and good vibes. Drop in and take part or simply sit back and soak it up.
4th (& occasional 5th) Tuesdays:
