On his journeys, he has met many of his idols, most notably Bill Evans, who remains a major influence on Goldstein’s music and composition. Goldstein also learned arranging from Gil Evans, playing in his orchestras until Evans’ death in 1988. Quincy Jones later asked him to reconstruct Evans’s arrangements for Miles Davis at Montreux Jazz in 1991.

As a pianist, he’s worked with Stan Getz, Chet Baker and Joe Lovano. He’s also considered one of the leading voices on accordion in jazz. He looks forward to guiding the SNJO and its audiences through a travelogue of musical experiences.
