June Highlights

Hello Green Note Music Lovers,

June brings another wonderful mix of world-class jazz, roots, folk and global sounds to Green Note. From celebrated international artists to exciting contemporary voices, this month’s programme showcases the diversity and intimacy that make live music at Green Note so special.

Jazz fans are in for a real treat this month! VIMALA ROWE & JOHN ETHERIDGE (Fri 5th June) and BENOIT VIELLEFON & THE HOT CLUB (Sat 13th June) offer two very different but equally compelling takes on jazz. Acclaimed vocalist and Green Note favourite Vimala Rowe joins legendary guitarist John Etheridge to celebrate ten years since the release of their highly acclaimed collaborative album, revisiting music from the record alongside other favourites in an evening that effortlessly blends jazz, soul, blues and folk. Meanwhile, Benoit Viellefon and his Hot Club transport audiences to the golden age of swing with their infectious mix of Parisian jazz, Latin rhythms and vintage glamour. Bringing rich musical traditions from further afield, MAYDAN ENSEMBLE (Tues 9th June) of the North London Jazz Collective blend modern jazz with Arabic, Anatolian and Persian folk music and are always very popular!

Fans of roots and Americana are also well served this month. CONNOR SELBY (Sun 7th June) continues to establish himself as one of the UK’s leading blues and roots artists, combining soulful vocals, exceptional guitar work and deeply personal songwriting. Meanwhile, Nashville based songstress STACY ANTONEL (Fri 12th June) blends her passion for classic country, jazz and surf rock.

Also coming up, WEBSTER’S RAGTIME TRIO (Sat 13th June) revive the joyful sounds of early American music with an irresistible mix of ragtime, fiddle tunes and old-time string band traditions. Full of energy, musicianship and historical charm, their performance is a perfect reminder of the rich roots from which so much contemporary folk and Americana continues to grow.

And from closer to home, we look forward to welcoming back the ever popular Camden-based BANDINI this weekend (Sat 6th June) with his full band. Described as “the bastard son of Tom Waits and Cab Calloway” he really knows how to put on a show!

This is just a selection of the many incredible artists who will be gracing our Green Note stage(s) in the coming weeks, so please do check out our EVENTS PAGE for the full listings.
