May Highlights at Green Note
Hello music lovers,
We wanted to let you know about some of the gigs we have coming up over the next couple of weeks… Also some great show for later in the year that we’ve just announced… PLUS an exclusive secret show that you’re going to be the first to hear about!
UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…
Lots of amazing music coming up as always, but some highlights over the next couple of weeks include:
Green Note favourites COPPER VIPER have kindly stepped in at short notice to fill a cancellation, and will now be playing this Sunday (21st May). Copper Viper are London-based trio comprised of prolific songwriter and guitarist Robin Joel Sangster (who you may also recognise from behind our bar!), fiddle/mandolin player Duncan Menzies and banjo picker Dana Immanuel. Drawing inspiration from the British folk and American country/bluegrass traditions, their music marries haunting melodies and intricate vocal harmonies with searing instrumental passages… come and check them out!
We also have a Green Note debut from Margate-based band ITCHY TEETH who have made a name for themselves with their hyper-melodic, witty and harmony-layered pop that boldly tiptoes the line between sincerity and irony… Singing about philosophy, pop culture, death and technology, challenging and critiquing it all through pastiche, humour and fun – their work has brought comparisons to artists like 10CC and Supertramp, The Flaming Lips and Weezer.
Other upcoming highlights include a classic country sound from winners of the Ameripolitan Award for “Honky-Tonk Group Of The Year”, THE REEVES BROTHERS’ Merle Haggard meets Alabama sound will have you craving a shot of Jack Daniels with a cold Budweiser (Thurs 25th May)! Described as “The bastard son of Tom Waits and Cab Calloway” Camden’s favourite Italian, BANDINI is back with his full band, bringing his mix of Jazz, blues, rock and gypsy fusion (Sat 27th May).
1930s Paris, fused with flavours of Eastern Europe and the energy of a campfire jam session, will be brought to you by THE SCHMOOZENBERGS (Fri 26th May) who play Gypsy Jazz Gypsy Swing, Klezmer, and more! We’ll hear a timeless blend of Americana with elements of 70s’ Folk Revival, Country, and Appalachian Blues from A DIFFERENT THREAD (Sun 28th May), and the album launch of Spanish guitar duo DE FUEGO who play an energetic instrumental flamenco and rumba music (Weds 31st May). This is just a handful of the shows we have coming up! More details on all these shows and lots more can be found on the EVENTS PAGE on our website!
RECENTLY ANNOUNCED…
Planning ahead, we’ve recently announced a range of great shows including… Award-winning and highly acclaimed Canadian folk band LE VENT DU NORD, leading Balkan Gypsy band PAPRIKA, Green Note favourites - THE CONGO FAITH HEALERS, an intimate three month residency from ROXANNE DE BASTION, a show as part of the Glass Knight tour with JOSHUA BURNELL, a very special album launch show from MICHELE STODART… as well as MAZ O’CONNOR, FRASER ANDERSON, REBECCA LOEBE, ROB HERON & THE TEAPAD ORCHESTRA and more!
SECRET SHOW
A couple of months ago, we hosted a secret show with three of the most renowned and respected musicians in Britain: NORMAN BLAKE, BERNARD BUTLER and JAMES GRANT. Norman - the centrifugal force in Teenage Fanclub, Bernard - most renowned for his work with Suede and McAlmont and Butler, and James - his solo work and Love and Money. This show sold out within minutes of it going on sale (probably a record for fastest selling show at Green Note!). So… due to popular demand, we will be bringing the guys back for a special 2 night residency!
Tickets will be going on sale to the public on Wednesday 31st May at 10am but we will be sending our mailing list a secret access code in our next newsletter which will give you a 24hr headstart! So keep an eye out for that as chances are it will sell out before it goes on sale to the public!
Hope to see you soon!
Lots of love,
Immy & Risa xx
