We hope you’re ready for a month of unforgettable live music! July is bursting with incredible artists, spanning Americana, Bluegrass, folk, Gypsy jazz and more — all under our cosy little roof! Whether you’re a long-time regular or it’s your first visit, there’s no better time to soak up the magic of live music, good company and a summer evening at Green Note.

 


UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…


Fans of Americana and heartfelt songwriting will love KELLEY MICKWEE, whose rich, rootsy sound blends Texan soul with bluesy storytelling (Thurs 3rd July), and LINDA McLEAN who music reviewers have ranked among the best of her North American contemporaries: “There is a ‘holy trinity’ of Canadian singer songwriters, Sarah Harmer, Kathleen Edwards and Linda McLean.”CBC Radio (Weds 9th July). Both highly recommended!


We’re also looking forward this week to the return of Green Note favourite HANK WANGFORD, the godfather of British alt-country, keeping traditions alive with his signature wit and warmth (Fri 4th July). From the harmonious Heartlands of Scotland and the musical metropolis of Melbourne, Australia, GOOD GUY HANK will be bringing all of the heartbreak, joy and everything in-between with blistering bluegrass country guitar, lightning mandolin, virtuoso fiddle playing and three part harmonies galore to our stage next week (Fri 11th July).

Bluegrass fans are in for a treat tonight (Weds 2nd July) with BLUE LASS - This all-female trio will be making their Green Note debut, performing a combination of original, traditional and contemporary material, weaving their love of American bluegrass, old-time and folk music with authentic, heartfelt playing.

And if Gypsy jazz gets your toes tapping, don’t miss the brilliant HARRY DIPLOCK, who has a monthly residency in our Basement Bar where he invites special guests to join him in bringing the music of Django Renhardt, Stephane Grapelli and more to an appreciative audience. For one night only, Harry will be joined in our main space by virtuoso Parisian jazz guitarist HUGO GUEZBAR for a very special one off show (Sun 13th July). Don’t miss this!

Other upcoming highlights include entertaining old-time band THE THUMPING TOMMYS (Sat 5th July), a concert dedicated to the father of bossa nova with MARIO BAKUNA (Sun 6th July), a night of nu-gypsy jazz with cellist dynamo Shirley Smart and her trio BEZIQUE (Thurs 10th July), and distinguished, 6 time BMI Award winning, Grammy and CMT Award Nominated Nashville songwriter, producer, and publisher JEFF COHEN (Mon 14th July).
