Disco Manifest
The Night Owl, Lower Trinity Street, Birmingham
Tuesday 25th August, 7:30pm

Digbeth Jazz are celebrating 2 years at The Night Owl on Tuesday with a ‘BIG BLOWOUT DISCO PARTY’ from the phenomenal 12-piece Disco Manifest. The band features two drummers, six horns and a rhythm section drawn from the vast pool of young talent emerging from the Birmingham Conservatoire and fronted by vocalist Katy Minter, who you may know as the Free Jazz Friday’s host / compere at Symphony Hall. I saw them at Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul festival last year, where they played a stonking set of fantastic funk, stupendous soul and distinctly diggable disco classics, arranged for the large ensemble.

The evening will be raising money for two cancer charities - Pancreatic Cancer UK and the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, in honour of the late Brian Homer, who passed away last month just weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and also our dear friend and regular supporter of both Digbeth Jazz and Music Spoken Here, Stef Work, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer following diagnosis in March and subsequent surgery.

All income from tickets, on-the-door payments and a raffle will be donated to the two charities. Standard ticket prices apply, but people are encouraged to donate a little extra on the door to support these important charities.
