Hanna Paulsberg Named European Musician of the Year 2025
On Monday evening, Hanna Paulsberg received the award for European Jazz Musician of the Year at the prestigious Académie du Jazz ceremony in Paris.
On Monday evening, the Norwegian saxophonist and composer Hanna Paulsberg received the prestigious award for European Jazz Musician of the Year at the French Académie du Jazz awards ceremony in Paris, in front of an audience of 700 people. During the ceremony, Paulsberg performed one of her own compositions together with the Italian guitarist Federico Casa Grande, who was also nominated for the award.
Previous recipients of the prize include musicians such as Tomasz Stańko, Paolo Fresu, Django Bates and Arild Andersen.
In her acceptance speech, Paulsberg thanked the musicians in her quartet Hanna Paulsberg Concept, who have been playing with her for more than 15 years:
“My work is built on their work, and without them I would not be the musician I am today.”
Académie du Jazz is a French organization founded in 1954 to promote and recognize jazz music. Each year it presents several prestigious jazz awards to musicians, albums and other contributions to the jazz field. The prizes are decided by a jury consisting of jazz journalists, producers and musicians.
