Jazz at Wolverhampton have announced that they are launching a new line of Saturday evening gigs at Thimblemill Library in Smethwick in addition to their programme at Wolverhampton Arts Centre.
Dave Fuller of Music Spoken Here, Worcester has supplied the following information;
Wolverhampton Arts Centre, in association with the charity Jazz at Wolverhampton and their Jazz Development Officer Steve Bradley, have been delivering an outstanding monthly programme of jazz for many years, typically on the last Thursday of the month. In the last couple of years, they introduced an additional Sunday afternoon Cafe Spotlight series that runs through the autumn, to showcase young artists primarily from the Birmingham Conservatoire in the smaller Cafe space at the centre. The upcoming Cafe Spotlight season will feature the V6 Organ Trio (4/10), Wishbone (8/11) and Sophie Laird with Ben Shankland and Tom Henery (13/12)
This week, Jazz at Wolverhampton announced on their new Facebook page that they are launching a new line of Saturday evening gigs at Thimblemill Library in Smethwick. Planned gigs include Alice Zawadzki and Rob Luft (24/10), Impossible Conversations (21/11), Trish Clowes and Ross Stanley (20/3) and SkunkS (17/4). I wonder if this has been aided with the new funding for libraries to run programmes and activities, including live gigs, to engage young people in making and enjoying music in their local area, as highlighted in the Government’s Plan for Music published last month.

October 24 - Alice Zawadzki and Rob Luft
November 21 - Impossible Conversations
March 20 - Trish Clowes and Ross Stanley
