Derby Jazz have relaunched their monthly PLAY JAZZ workshops for adults led by Matt Ratcliffe. Details attached.

We have received the following information from Derby Jazz;

PLAY JAZZ workshops at The MAYPOLE on Brook St, Derby.

SUNDAY AFTERNOONS 2-4
SEPT 19, OCT 17, NOV 14, DEC 12

We’re relaunching our monthly workshops for adults led by Matt Ratcliffe. The sessions are aimed at musicians who have some facility with their instruments and basic music reading skills, but experience of playing jazz or improvising is definitely not essential. In fact most PLAY JAZZERS have previously played in village bands, orchestras, rock or swing bands where they’ve had no opportunity to play jazz or improvise. PLAY JAZZ offers that opportunity. This season Matt will be looking at music by DUKE ELLINGTON, THELONIOUS MONK, DAVE BRUBECK and CHARLES MINGUS and he’ll post charts and video/audio clips for you to look at in a Dropbox. We’ll give you the password when you buy your ticket.

To give everyone enough space to express themselves we’re limiting each workshop to TEN and while each workshop is a stand-alone session we feel you’ll get most out of PLAYJAZZ by attending the whole season of four workshops.

PLEASE BOOK IN ADVANCE THROUGH OUR ONLINE BOX OFFICE, IT HELPS MATT TO KNOW IN ADVANCE WHAT IINSTRUMENTS TO EXPECT.
