Upcoming Musical Highlights - November
Hello Green Note Music Lovers,
From soulful folk storytelling to inventive jazz and roots brilliance, this November we’re welcoming an incredible line-up of artists from across the globe to Green Note - mark your calendars and don’t miss out!
UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS…
November opens with a real treat for Americana fans: ALICE HOWE & FREEBO (Tues 11th Nov) bring their warm, soulful blend of classic songwriting and expressive musicianship to Green Note. Howe’s crystal-clear voice and poetic lyricism meet Freebo’s legendary bass and guitar work - he’s known for his years with Bonnie Raitt - making this duo a must-see for lovers of authentic, heartfelt roots music. Also next week, REG MEUROSS (Thurs 13th Nov) presents ‘Fire & Dust: A Woody Guthrie Story’ - an evocative song cycle that celebrates the conscience and courage of Guthrie through Meuross’s masterful songwriting and stirring storytelling. Commissioned by Pete Townshend (The Who), expect an evening rich with history, humanity and melody.
Later this month, we shine a spotlight on some of the most compelling female voices in the folk and roots scene. WOMEN OF FOLK (Thurs 20th Nov @ Water Rats) brings together a collective of powerful voices from across the folk spectrum, celebrating heritage, harmony and storytelling in its purest form. Paying homage to the songs and repertoires of the very best women folk singers and singer-songwriters past and present – taking in Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Melanie, Judy Collins, Carole King and many more, this will be a night to remember! The following night Folk singer of the year and Best Traditional Song Nominee HEIDI TALBOT & Ivor Novello award winning BOO HEWERDINE (Fri 21st Nov @ Heath St Baptist Church) unite for an evening of grace, warmth and lyrical beauty. The magic continues with Australian ARIA-winner GEORGIA MOONEY (Mon 24th Nov @ St Pancras Old Church), first known as a founding member of acclaimed folk quartet All Our Exes Live in Texas whose lush, cinematic “dream-folk” sound is both whimsical and haunting.
