Karim Saber Quintet
Sundance
Another excellent album that combines Saber’s jazz and rock influences. As a writer he likes to embrace light and shade and his pieces are also rich in terms of colour and texture and narrative feel.
A welcome addition to the catalogue of the consistently impressive John Donegan.
With its focus unashamedly on melody “Where In The World” is an often beautiful album capable of appealing to a wide range of jazz listeners.
It’s a tribute to Lodder that “2 Sorts Of 3” with its mix of electric and acoustic sounds coheres so effectively as an album. This is largely due to the intelligence and quality of his writing.
Tim Richards is one of the great unsung heroes of British jazz and this is an unpretentious and highly enjoyable album that deserves to be widely heard.
